Welcome back to the 2009-2010 School Year!

Every school year brings a degree of certainty that no matter how well prepared; we will experience new or unexpected challenges. No greater challenge exists today than creating safe schools and maintaining a safe tranquil environment for learning. Without safe schools, teachers cannot teach and students cannot learn. A safe environment is fundamental to the success of the academic mission. The security Department looks forward to working collaboratively with students, parents and staff as we demonstrate our pride in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District.

Off-Duty Police Officers

Off-duty Kansas City Missouri Police Officers have provided the security needs of the Hickman Mills School District since 1993. In working with the officers it’s extremely important to also understand the role and their legal authority as it pertains to the security needs here in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District. While there are some limitations for the officers, the fact remains that with full police powers and authority officers can be very effective in the school environment. Their deterrent value is something that is incalculable, and they serve as a tremendous resource when utilized in a proper manner. The Hickman Mills School District and Board of Education strives to make a difference and is strongly committed to issues relative to safety and security. The district has diligently worked for many years to maintain safe schools and a tranquil environment in which the educational process can flourish.
